Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 June 2026
Moodring is a lightweight mood tracker built around one idea: log how you feel with a single tap, with as little friction โ and as little data collection โ as possible. This policy explains exactly what happens to your information across every version of Moodring (the web app, the installable PWA, and the native iOS app).
The short version
- Your moods, notes, custom emojis and boosters are stored on your own device by default.
- We don't sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers โ ever.
- There are no third-party trackers, ad networks, or analytics SDKs in the app.
- An account is optional. You only have one if you choose to sync across devices.
- You can export or permanently delete all of your data at any time.
What Moodring stores
When you use Moodring, the app keeps the following so it can work:
- Mood logs โ the emoji you tapped and its automatic timestamp.
- Optional notes โ the one-line note you may add to a log.
- Your customisations โ your custom emoji set, your mood boosters, and saved suggestions.
- Preferences โ such as your light/dark theme choice.
Moodring does not ask for your name, location, contacts, photos, or any other personal information beyond an email address if you choose to create an account.
Where your data lives
Local-first by default. If you use Moodring without an
account, everything above is saved only in your browser's
localStorage (web/PWA) or on-device storage (iOS). It never
leaves your device, and we cannot see it.
If you create an account (optional sync). To sync your moods across devices, you can sign up with an email address and password, or a magic email link. In that case your account email and your Moodring data are stored on our hosting provider, Supabase, which acts as our data processor. Your data is protected by per-user access rules so that only your account can read or write your records. You can sign out or delete your account at any time.
Service providers
Moodring relies on a small number of providers purely to run the service:
- Vercel โ hosts and serves the web app. Like any web host, its servers process standard technical request logs (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
- Supabase โ stores accounts and synced data, only if you create an account.
- Apple App Store โ if you install the iOS app, Apple's own terms and privacy policy also apply to the download and any platform-level data.
We do not use advertising networks or third-party analytics or tracking tools.
How your data is used
Your data is used only to provide the app's features to you โ showing your logs, drawing your history and gentle trend line, surfacing booster suggestions, and syncing across your devices if you opted in. We do not use your moods to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or share them.
Your choices and rights
- Export โ download all of your data as JSON or CSV from Settings.
- Delete โ use "Reset all data" in Settings to permanently erase everything on your device. If you have an account, deleting your account removes your synced data too.
- Use without an account โ you can use Moodring fully without ever signing up.
- Access & correction โ because you hold your own data, you can view and edit it directly in the app. For account-related requests, contact us below.
Children
Moodring is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Mental health note
Moodring is a simple personal mood tracker, not a medical device or a crisis service. It is not a substitute for professional help. If you are struggling, please reach out to a qualified professional or a local crisis line.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Moodring after a change means you accept the updated policy.
